Rob Gordon's Top Five Favorite Moves To Be Thankful For

Matt's Edition
(starting at #5 and going to my #1 movie I'm most thankful for)

5. Tommy Boy
It's just a fun movie. Chris Farley is hilarious and his chemistry with David Spade is unmatched. Whenever I watch this movie my mood instantly becomes better and goofier. Plus, I always find myself quoting it for weeks after viewing

"Meanwhile the rookie is in the corner puking his guts out. BWAH BWAH BWAAAHHH. All because you wanted to save some money on brake pads."

4. Rudy
Growing up an in purebred football family, Rudy quickly became a staple in my house. I watched it at a young age and always managed to catch the last hour or so on TV. Everytime I watch it and hear that famous Rudy tryout music I get chills. It makes me want to go out and do something remarkable.

" Your five foot nothin', a hundred and nothin' and hardly have a spec of athletic ability and you hung in with the best college football team in the land for two years, and you were also going to walk out of here with a degree from the University of Notre Dame. In this life time you don't have to prove nothing to nobody except yourself and after what you gone through if you haven't done that by now, it ain't gonna never happen..."

3. It's A Wonderful Life

You just don't get a better holiday feel good story than this. You get to watch Jimmy Stewart in one of his strongest performances and you are captivated the entire movie by his co stars. It also allows me to step back, look at my life, and realize how much people care for me and how much I care for them. It's arguably the best feel good movie of all time."Strange, isn't it? Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he? "

2. Taking Chance

I'm breaking the mold here a little bit. Taking Chance is, by no means, a feel good movie....or is it? For those that haven't seen it, see it! It's about a military officer that offers to take a dead soldiers body home to be buried. It follows him through his journey as he runs into various people and how they react to seeing (or figuring out) what he is doing. It's an extremly touching tale that had me crying like a school girl who just found out her boyfriend broke up with her. Very rarely (and to Nicole's chagrin) do I show emotion when watching anything. But this film was so moving I couldn't help it. It shows you the sacrifice that not only the soldier themselves must endure but what the family of a soldier goes through. It makes you thankful to have such brave men fighting for our country.
"You are his witness now. Without a witness, they just disappear. "

AAAAND #1 KIDS.........

1. A Christmas Story

So many great one liners, so many great characters, and a gazillion fantastic moments. Just thinking of this movie makes me think of the holiday season and it reminds me of the excitement Christmas brought when I was a kid. It's a movie that I could watch and watch and watch and watch.... From the leg lamp to the Red Rider bb gun, it's a fantastically hilarious movie that immediately puts me in a good mood. Thank you people who made A Christmas Story, thank you.

"Fra-gee-lay. That must be Italian."

  2. Matt's are why better fyi...with the exception of Tommy Boy. I really don't get people who think Chris Farley was funny. However, I'll let it slide because A Christmas Story is the best EVER! Nic, the only good movie you had was Elf...notice how that the only move that people commented about...
