Our Top Five Favorite Mushy Movies

We're way behind. We were supposed to each do our own Top Five Favorite Lovey Dovey movies in honor of Valentine's Day, which - as you might have noticed - has come and gone. So here's a quick version of our Top Five Favorite post:

Nicole's Favorites

1. Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2 (I always hope she and Bill are going to work it out in the end.)
2. Love Actually (Every time she says she learned English "just in cases," I die.)
3. The Quiet Man (Is this a courting or a donnybrook?)
4. Pride & Prejudice (sorry - I'm partial to the Keira Knightly version. I love Matthew Macfadyen as Darcy.)
5. Braveheart (oh god, Murron!)

Matt's Favorites

5. Braveheart (its awesome that I'm allowed to use this movie for this list)
4. Casablanca (a WWII movie with Nazis and romance?? BINGO!)
3. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (Jim Carrey, awesome visuals, original idea, and accurately depicting the typical journey of most relationships)
2. A Proper Violence (Simply stated, a great film)
1. Forgetting Sarah Marshal (I like everything about this movie. Its funny, has some moving moments, and never takes itself too seriously)

  1. Okay. I'm outing him because I don't care. In his number two spot up until we argued it to death yesterday, was the piece of garbage, The Notebook. Now Matt says he never said it was a good movie - however, I argue that if you're going to put something in your Top Five, it means you think it's good.

I HATE The Notebook. I hate everything Nicholas Sparks touches.

And so I said his movie, A Proper Violence, which is about revenge (albeit out of love), was a better love story than The Notebook.

And that's how we got here.

  3. Dude, Pride & Prejudice, Love Actually, and The Quiet Man are all legit love stories. What are you talking about? And so is Casablanca and Eternal Sunshine.

  4. Romatic...yes they are...but not Mushy...in no way is Eternal Sunshine "mushy". I'll give you Love Actually, but everything else is like high romance. The word mushy makes me think of shit like The Notebook and A Walk To Remember...sorry!

  6. I told Matt that the only thing I hate more than The Notebook is people who love The Notebook. Unfortunately, I love both you and Matt. You're making this really hard for me. Both of you.

  7. in what was are Kill Bill, Braveheart and Forgetting Sarah Marshal mushy? 2 are very violent and the other is meant to be a raunchy comedy, and it's not even a good one.

  8. Okay, okay. So maybe calling the post "Mushy" was misleading. I like rom coms but...

Kill Bill - I seriously love the scene between Bill and B when they are talking on the patio. Every single time I watch the movie I'm upset that they can't just work it out.

Braveheart - how is the love between William and Murron not incredibly romantic? And then, when he's dying for Freedom and he sees her in the crowd and he's able to let go... COME ON.

And I've never seen Forgetting Sarah Marshall, so I don't know.
